What is Brim?
Brim is a Mac app that turns the camera notch into a workspace. Hover it (or press ⌃⌥⌘) and a panel opens with 20+ tools: your coding agents, AI chat, now playing with lyrics, clipboard history, a file shelf, store sales, AI usage limits, timers and more.
How does agent control work?
Start a Claude Code, Codex or other agent session from the notch, or let Brim pick up the ones already running in your terminal. You’ll see the live transcript, answer questions and approve or deny commands without leaving what you’re doing. The closed notch shows when an agent is working, needs you or is done.
Do I need an API key for Ask Brim?
No. Use Apple Intelligence on device, sign in with ChatGPT through Codex, or use the plan you’re signed in to in Claude Code. If you prefer, paste a key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, xAI, Llama or OpenRouter. Keys stay in your Keychain.
Is it a subscription?
No. Brim is $4.99, once. That buys a lifetime license with every future update, on up to 3 Macs. No account, no recurring bill, and the price doesn’t go up later.
Which Macs does Brim support?
macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon and Intel. On MacBooks with a notch the panel lives in it; on other Macs and external displays Brim draws its own notch at the top of the screen. Apple Intelligence features need a Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on.
How does activation work?
After checkout you land on a page with your license key and the download. The key is emailed too. Paste it into Brim once: it activates on up to 3 Macs, is stored in your Keychain and keeps working offline. Move to a new Mac by deactivating an old one in Settings → License.
macOS says Brim can’t be opened. What now?
On macOS 15 and later, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway. On macOS 14, right-click Brim in Finder, choose Open, then Open. You only do this once.

Where does my data go?
Nowhere you didn’t send it. Clipboard, shelf and feature data stay on your Mac, there’s no telemetry, and AI chats go only to the provider you pick.
